Twin Chapels of Creativity
This pair of grade 2 listed chapels sit within an important historical landscape on the east side of Sheffield.
Our client had a programme of activities in one of the semi derelict chapels but wanted to find a longer term and sustainable use for the properties. We undertook a feasibility study into reuse of the building as a place for artists’ studios and dance production and rehearsal.
Key to the design work was unlocking the section so that additional mezzanine floors could be inserted cleanly with the minimum impact on the listed building. A business plan was drawn up in parallel with the design to ensure that the rental income and likely maintenance costs of the new scheme would be sustainable for the client.
This scheme is awaiting funding confirmation.
