Client brief:

To transform the library into a learning space at the heart of the school to celebrate their 125th anniversary. The new library serves several functions, a place to learn, to teach and just relax with a good book. It is also a social space, for children and parents.

Our solution:

The tired conservatory that leaked and overheated was removed and a terrace formed with french doors opening onto a new terrace. The existing structure was remodelled with handrails, glass fronted balcony and a new brise sollei, built of green oak to shade the library. Three rooms were opened up to create a split level library with spaces of differing character for classes, individual study and information.
