26th January 2015 –

This week sees the start of our project for new facilities for the RSPB at Blacktoft Sands, near Goole. We have designed a new office building, a barn for the maintenance machinery and volunteers facilities for the RSPB reserve. Studio Gedye gained planning approval for the scheme in 2014, and phase one, will consist of the office, barn and yard. The office is designed to harvest the sun with its roof, consisting of photovoltaic panels pitched to face south. The offices are lit from the north and have views out to the open countryside.
“It is great to get this much needed building for the reserve started, the facilities will encourage volunteers to get involved and will bring all the staff who work on the reserve onto one site. The offices will be a calm oasis from the operations of the reserve as well as providing a more sustainable facility for the Society”
